Get ready--it's Crunch-Time.
I feel Metang Metal lacks power cards (like Reset Stamp and Avery), and I hate relying on Metang. Turbo Metal can run low on resources late game (without cards like Pal Pad and Lusamine), and its board is frequently on the razor's edge. Both decks miss important damage benchmarks for the meta. My response to these issues is to play Heatran Metal with Galarian Perrserker, Orthworm, and Pokestop.
Steely Spirit is the perfect fix to Metal's conditional damage, and Galarian Meowth makes finding Perrserker easy. Orthworm PAR 138 is another card to fix draw and damage problems. Even on a weak attack, card advantage is worthwhile. Damage buffs and especially weakness enable Punch and Draw to even take early/gust KOs. 140 HP is good even without buffs, as attacks for 130 are common. Crunch-Time Rush for 90 is underwhelming, I admit. With damage buffs, previous damage, and Metal weakness, though, it can take KOs. Orthworm truly shines when there are 3 cards or fewer in your deck. Add 150 damage to the paltry 90 and Orthworm will KO almost anything--the ultimate reward for surviving to the endgame.
The Sprint build [Version 37+] is centered on Pokestop. Decks like Cowboy Control, Sablelock, and Turbo Wo-Chien prove the potency of an Item focus, even with the inconsistency of cards like Pokestop and Clay. Playing a lot of recovery cards makes discarding even good cards work in your favor. With the inclusion of the rarely seen Eco Arm, any card can be recovered from a Pokestop whiff. With few cards in deck you can hit surprising plays with Pal Pad and Stellar Wish.
Metal is a tough type to win with. As I see it, you have to sacrifice either consistency or power, and I chose the former. As a result, Crunch-Time can brick hard--play what cards you can, anything in service of seeing cards. Sometimes it won't work. Play to your outs, look for optimizations, have fun, and best of luck. Thank you to everyone who has helped me with the list. I'm open to suggestions to improve it.
