GLC Deck - Green Force

A grass GLC deck that revolves around Meganium to tank and heal. With Meganiums overgrow ability, it's attack is boosted by 70 damage. What's great about this extra damage is that it does 2 things. For one, you are hitting your opponent harder. Secondly, the added damage also boosts the amount that you heal yourself when you attack with "Green Force". With this in mind, I've included cards that share a similar mechanic. Any cards that provide damage modifiers are granted an added affect, healing the amount of damage added to the attacks base damage. For instance, Leon adds 30 damage and heals an additional 30 HP. The same is true for Powerful Energy, Giovanni's Scheme, and Professor Kukui. Additionally, Lurantis ability "Sunny Day" applies a 20 damage buff to all of your grass pokemon which can also aid in healing when attacking with life drain attacks such as Absorb, Giga Drain, Mega Drain ect. The other pokemon in the deck focus around healing Meganium and helping it tank damage. Leavany is difficult to get into play because it is a Stage 2 but it is super powerful. With the ability "Blanket Weaver" it reduces the damage of all incoming attacks by 40 damage. This is better than an HP booster like Kricketune because that is 40 less damage that you have to heal off. Kriketune helps add further bulk to Meganium to prevent it from being OHKO. Once damage starts to pile up you can heal it off with Sceptile's ability "Nurture and Heal" and Shaymin's ability "Floral Heal". The downside with Sceptile is that you have to continously attach energy to Meganium to heal it. Although, Meganium only needs 3 energy to be able to attack. Therefore, to increase your energy efficiency you can move the excess energy from Meganium to Shining Genesect using its "Energy Reload" ability. This keeps all of your energy on the board and gives you a second attacking option, meanwhile every time you attach an energy to Genesect, you are healing Meganium by 30 HP in the process. Finally, Carnivine exists as a third attacking option. Carnivine also boasts a life drain type attack in "Giga Drain" that functions same way as Meganium's "Green Force" attack. Thus all the damage modifiers gain an added affect when combine with Carnivines attack. Carnivine is also a great pokemon to start with in the active spot with its "Return" attack which allows you to draw cards until you have 5 in your hand. Since this deck suffers from not having a reliable draw engine, Carnivine can help you draw through your deck early in the game while you take you time to setup Meganium and the other support pokemon. To help get setup, there is a Grovyle with the "Sunshine Grace" ability which allows you to search your deck for a grass pokemon every turn. It's basically the same as Grottle but it evolves into Sceptile which is a better stage 2 pokemon to aid in healing the main attacker which is Meganium. Additionally, Sceptile has great synergy with Shining Genesect as mentioned previously. Most of the tech cards are focused around extra sources of healing since it can be difficult to setup your board quickly. Some of these cards can help keep your pokemon alive while you're setting up multiple stage 1 and stage 2 pokemon. Also, most of the supporters focus on drawing cards and searching for pokemon since this deck doesn't have a draw engine. I've opted for cards like Giovanni's Scheme and Professor Kukui instead of cards like Leon and Iris because they both give you bonus damage but with the added option to draw cards. In a pinch you can use them to draw instead of using them for the damage modifier affect. If I had to make any changes, I would consider adding another basic grass energy, a random receiver, and energy retrieval. A few other pokemon I was considering were: Tangrowth (Has the "Giga Drain" attack for 1 energy cost) Maractus (Has the "Giga Drain" attack for 3 energy cost) Cherrim instead of the Lurantis. Cherrim has the "Fair-Weather Heal" ability which heals 20 damage from one of your pokemon. I chose the Lurantis because it is also a stage 1 and essentially heals 20 HP and deals 20 more damage when used in conjuntiion with life drain type attacks. Chaotic Swell to prevent parallel city
