GLC Deck - Revenge of the Feeble

Warning: Completely untested.

I once said that Water has everything Metal has in terms of Control, but better. Well, while Water lacks Archaludon's Metal Bridge and Mt. Coronet, I think I was correct. This is my take on Water Control from the perspective of my experience with Metal Control. This means trying to build around Memory Melt Slowking, which may fix one of two problems with Leviathan; the Control mirror. While possible, Control is often difficult for Leviathan, and in particular Espio and I agreed it loses to Egg Mill, which seems to be the ultimate Control list in the format. The other problem with Leviathan? Wailmer lead. To that end, as I did testing Metal Control, I cut the broken whale as I cut the half-decent elephant; 3 retreat on a Basic is not okay without a ton of pivot cards. Instead, I suggest Gyarados; unlike Wailord, it do 180 damage for 3 energy, meaning all it needs is Reversal Energy. To be frank, I also thought it was funny.

I wanted to fit Arven, Acerola, and Luxurious Cape, but space does not currently allow that; some consistency cards may be able to be cut with testing, but I think I'll continue focusing on Saviour Machine (Metal Control). I think Psyduck trainer lock, Cryogonal item lock, Swampert draw, red card, a doll, and more Basic energy all have feasible arguments for inclusion. Good luck if you want to test this, and view the list as a flexible vehicle to test other cards with Slowking. Let me know if you have any feedback, I'm on both Cardboard Warriors and Lt. Surge's Strategists Discords.

Memory Melt Control has been around a while, but since its not ubiquitous I think it probably still needs to be solved; I think previous attempts were too passive and slow. Below I have a non-exhaustive list of just the more recent Water decks which inspired this one--search Memory Melt and you'll find more. This includes Leviathan, one of the best Control decks in the format, Espio's revision with Slowking (strong but perhaps not a perfect fit), Espio's similarly recent and also untested Slowking build, and Izzy's Lazy River (featuring Kingdra for the ultimate Water hand disruption). Whether you're playing my list or another, good luck.
